Born in Figueira da Foz, fate decided that we would share our days as a family and turn what we love most into our work together. For thirteen years we have been The Lovellers, documenting love stories across central Portugal.
Our story began on São João night, in honour of Saint John the Baptist, the longest night of summer in our city. We practiced martial arts together, started dating, and before we knew it we were a family. We are the proud parents of Guilherme and Joaquim, and we live the constant joy of watching them grow.
We cannot live without the smell of our sea, the vastness of our region's rice fields, the calm of the Mondego river that kisses our city, our Serra da Boa Viagem hills above the coast. This is our world. And it is from here that we set out to photograph yours.
