We are The Lovellers, documentary wedding photographers based in Figueira da Foz, the heart of Portugal's Silver Coast. For thirteen years we have been photographing weddings across this stretch of the Atlantic shore, from Aveiro in the north to Nazaré in the south, from coastal villas to inland chapels, from working fishing villages to family quintas tucked into pine forests. What is the Silver Coast
The Silver Coast is the stretch of Atlantic shoreline that runs from south of Porto down towards Lisbon, with its centre on the cities of Figueira da Foz, Coimbra, and Aveiro. Its name comes from the way light hits the water in the late afternoon, turning the ocean into something close to molten silver. It is the part of Portugal where the Atlantic shows its most dramatic personality: long beaches with serious waves, dunes that shift with the wind, and skies that change ten times in a single hour.
It is also the part of Portugal that most international couples have not yet discovered. The Algarve is famous, the Douro is famous, Lisbon is famous. The Silver Coast remains, for now, one of the country's best-kept secrets, with prices, calm, and authenticity that destination weddings further south have started to lose.

Couples who choose the Silver Coast for their wedding tend to share something in common: they want a destination wedding that does not feel like a destination wedding. What we photograph on the Silver Coast
A wedding on the Silver Coast can take many shapes. We photograph beach ceremonies in Quiaios and Costa Nova with the Atlantic as the only witness. We photograph quinta weddings in the hills above Coimbra, where dinner happens under hundred-year-old olive trees. We photograph chapel ceremonies in tiny inland villages, with stone walls that have heard wedding vows for centuries. We photograph elegant city celebrations in Aveiro and Coimbra, with cocktail hours by canals or in cloistered courtyards.
Each wedding is photographed the same way, regardless of venue: documentary, attentive, without staging. The setting changes. The approach does not. What we look for is the same in every wedding we photograph: the truth of the day, captured without interruption.

We work in a documentary way: relaxed, attentive, present without conditioning. We do not ask for poses. We do not pull people aside for staged portraits. We do not direct the rhythm of your day. What we do is follow the wedding closely, attentive to the gestures and small moments that you will not have a chance to see for yourselves, the ones that happen between people while everyone else is looking somewhere else.

The two main entry points are Porto and Lisbon airports, both within ninety minutes of the Silver Coast core. Porto is the closer option for the northern part of the region (Aveiro, Costa Nova). Lisbon is the closer option for the southern part (Nazaré, Óbidos). Direct flights connect Porto and Lisbon to most major US cities, the UK, France, Germany, and the rest of Europe. Driving from either airport is straightforward.
Do you only photograph weddings on the Silver Coast?
We are based on the Silver Coast and photograph here most often, but we also travel further when our couples need us to. We have photographed weddings in Porto, in the Douro Valley, and across central Portugal more broadly. For weddings outside the Silver Coast, we treat the day with the same documentary approach. The territory changes, the way we work does not.
